Lyrics

Progressing Insanity

Neck Breaking Fury (1990), track 2

Steve Murphy: “I think Progressing Insanity is the best Corpse song.”

Blood on the walls shining red
It has a life of it’s own till it dries to a blackened dead
Something seems to have gone wrong but I sense no regret
As the blood oozes from head my memory starts to set

In these declining years the erosion of time
The level of ignorance growing
Gutless cowards ascending in power
Insanity reigns across the earth
Human ineptness the cause of our plight
The innocent perish in vain
Anarchy rising —
The next thing we’ll see is the mutilation of those without conscience

Now I can remember it’s coming back
A man with a knife or a gun struck at me
He had wanted money and what else I’m not sure
Greed running rampant as a society is torn.
